thousand lost lives later, the Rwandan civil war finally ceased and the brutal murder of innocent citizens came to a halt. However, this hatred and intolerance felt between the two ethnic groups because of past events was not the only foundation that this conflict was built upon. There were a variety of reasons for this war, all of which can be grouped into one of four categories: economic, political, social, and military causes. As can thus far be seen, the conflict in Rwanda was a result of complex cultural factors occurring within the country. However, at the heart of the problem it is obvious that psychosocial conditions were the determining causes of this particular quarrel.
