             Do What You're Told.....
             Have you ever done something you didn't want to, but because you were told to, you
             did it anyways? Many of us think that we are in control of ourselves and that no one can
             tell us what to do if we don't want to, but the truth iswe all have an itch for authority. We
             all sit at home and complain about it each day like we can't do anything about it, but we
             can, it's just the fact that no one will. Stanely Milgram conducted an experiment to prove
             In his writing "The Perils of OBedience", Stanley Milgram explains an experiment he
             conducted at Yale University to prove that "For many people, obedience is a deeply
             ingrained behavior tendency, indeed a potent impulse overriding training in ethics, sympathy,
             and moral code." (para 1) The set up for the experiment was quite easy.
             Two people (players I will call them)( would enter into a psychology lab, on their own
             free will, and to become part of an experiment on, what they thought was, memory and
             learning. One was assigned the role of the "teacher", the other was assigned as the "student".
             Once they meet the experimenter he explains that this experiment is based on punishment
             and learning. Then the players are separated and seated in their positions. The "Learner" is
             put in a room and sat in a chair hooked up to an electrode. His hands are strapped in to
             create less movement, and the experimenter explains to him that he will be given sets of
             words to read, then he will be tested on how well he remembers second word in each pair.
             If he makes a mistake then he will receive shocks of electric of "increasing intensity" (para 4).
