Creon is the king of the city who is stubborn and arrogant. His stubbornness leads him to be a lonely man. This tragic story of Antigone is written by the Greek author Sophocles. Antigone the royal nephew of the king decides to bury her brother to put his body to rest. However this was a crime done that no man would ever consider. Although Creon traps Antigone in a cave to her death, he is punished by the consequences in the end. Creon is one of the tragic heroes in this story who becomes isolated from his family and his people.
             It began with a war that started to make everything fall apart for the powerful king. Creon's son was killed in the war by Polyneices. Polyneices died in the war also, and was not allowed to be buried because he killed Creon's son. This made Antigone stand up for her brother's rights and bury her brother; knowing if she was caught she would be put to death. She is caught breaking the law and taken to Creon .Crean says "Antigone you with your head hanging, do you confess this thing? (pg. 708, Scene 2, lines 50)." Creon is stunned that Antigone admits what she has done.
             Creon feels humiliated and wants his son Haimon to see what his fiancé Antigone had done. However Haimon favors Antigone and feels that she is right about her action of doing what she believes in by following the god's rules. He tries to prove to his father that if any man did the same thing people would stand up for his action. Creon was too arrogant to take a lesson from his own child. This is seen on page 718 scene 3 line 94-96 when Creon says "You consider it right for a man of my years and experience, to go to school to a boy?" He orders Antigone to be trapped in a cave. A blind prophet named Teirisias tells Creon that he made a mistake and should free Antigone, that this action could bring great misery to his life. Creon does not accept the prophet's request b
