people even when they have no reason to. Women do this because they believe
it is an automatic way of keeping both people on equal ground because the blame is shared,
whereas, men think apologizing is similar to putting yourself down. ( Tannen,176) This
reinforces women to act more thoughtful of other people's feeling, while men tend not to show
their compassion.(Tannen, 176) Also, when a women complains she is simply trying to
understand the situation better, or trying to make conversation about it, but not necessarily to
improve it. However, when a men hear complaints they automatically suggest ways to improve
the problem, often thinking that women complain because they are unable to solve the problem
on their own. This makes men think women are dependent upon them to solve their problems.
Due to this, men are perceived to be superior than women because men feel they have to look
after women, who are incapable of solving their own problems. (Tannen, 180) In addition, men
and women verbally disagree differently. The logic of a verbal fight is when you are challenged,
you will rise and try to defend yourself and fight back verbally. (Tannen, 178) However, when
a women's views are criticized, they begin to see the other person's views, due the social
construction of a women being passive and feminine. This makes men more masculine because
