"Araby is a short story that takes place in what seems to be a quiet town. The story is told by a young boy who lives with his aunt and uncle. They live in a two story house that was once lived buy a priest which passed away some time before. The narrator seems to be in love with his friend's sister but seems to be a shy kind of a person since he can't bring himself to actually tell her. This causes an internal conflict for the main character which causes him to realize that things aren't always what they seem.
             Throughout the story, the narrator constantly describes his friend's sister as the love of his life. The way he describes this girl is a direct example of how he feels. There are phrases in the story that are very emotional and detailed when referring to the young girl. In the beginning of the story, the narrator describes when this girl steps outside to call on her brother. He describes her with emotion stating, "Her dress swung as she moved her body, and the soft rope of her hair tossed from side to side". The way he describes her, one can almost feel the warmth in the emotion of the description. He was very introverted as far s his feelings went. He describes, "I had never spoken to her, except for a few casual words, and yet her name was like a summons to all my foolish blood". This statement is an example of how he felt inside when in her presence. With all his feelings, the main character was obviously blinded by this girl's beauty while not considering or actually knowing who the real person was.
             Aside from being in love, it is evident throughout the story that the narrator is a religious person with some conflict within.
