            Of Mice and Men
             The responsibility of taking care of someone for most of your life is a burden for anyone. This novel, Of mice and Men by John Steinbeck has two main characters George and Lennie, and these characters are going to learn about friendship, broken dreams, and sacrifice. Georges' life seems to be constant sacrifice in taking care of Lennie, but is ironically even more so when he feels compelled to take Lennies life in the end.
             George has a strong sense of responsibility for Lennie and has taken care of Lennie through many hard times. An example of Georges' responsibility is when Lennie grabs hold of the girls dress, George has to get him out of trouble. This is important because it shows one of the many things George has done for Lennie to keep him out of trouble. This shows that George has a great amount of responsibility of taking care of Lennie and keeping him out of the trouble he seems to get into. Another example are the tickets "you never had none you crazy bastard. T got both of 'em here. Think I'd let you carry your own work card?". this shows that George must take care of Lennie, by holding Lennies' things so Lennie won't lose it. There for George must watch out for his own belongings as well as Lennies'. As a result George has a heavy load on his shoulders taking care of Lennie and must often sacrifice his own wants for Lennies.
             Lennies inability to control his impulses often lands him in trouble and George is always there to help him, often at his own expense. One example of a problem Lennie gets into is when he grabs onto the girls dress in Weed. Because of Lennies constant want to feel soft things, he grabs onto a girls red dress and becomes so scared that he cant let go of her dress. This caused a serious problems because the girl went back to town and told them she had been raped. George helps Lennie out of the problems he gets into by hiding in an irriga...
