What is the American Dream? Is it a dream of riches and empty promises? No, the American Dream is a desire for a better life then the one you currently have. A life in a new place you never been to, called America. America is known as the land of the free because people there are afforded equality and a chance to realize their dreams. People, who come to America hope to find freedom from oppression, escape from penury, and affliction from the government. It's where you won't be judged by what nationality you are, and where job opportunities are plentiful. That's why people migrate to the nation that make dreams come true.
             In the country where dreams come true, the government does not subject you to tyranny or oppression. They can't come into you house and take everything you own and say it's for the improvement of the nation. They can't deprive you of your wages. The law doesn't punish you with unlawful jail time and harassment; the country has different laws. Once you are convicted of a crime, the government does not treat you like a piece of dirt that isn't worth anything. Over here, you have the right to a fair trial and the right for someone to represent you in a court of law; you are even provided a lawyer should you not be able to afford one. The law doesn't stop you from trying to prosper. They give you support when you are in need. For instance they have social security, food stamps, and welfare.
             So many people would risk their lives in hopes for what might be a better life in America. Granted there are hardships when you first arrive in the land of dreams, but the opportunities are more plentiful. Over here your social class does not dictate who you are, unlike in other countries. In other countries where the rich are the only ones with a chance to get high end jobs and education, America is the exact opposite of this; there is free quality education that the government pays for.
