Scarlet Letter: Human Nature

             When one person thinks of a human, he or she thinks of a perfect life with perfect family and everything that goes along with it. We, as people do not think of each other as snakes that slither only to feed off each other's problems or to hide what is true. We always want to think of each other as humans of respect and of a great stature but such things can not always be depicted. In the book The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne depicts the flaws of each of the main characters, which brings out the negativity in their human nature. On one hand we have Chillingworth who is one of the victims of the story but does not act as a victim, he instead uses his pain to inflict revenge on other characters. Then Dimmesdale, who is a reverend, is supposed to be a leader but in the dark commits a serious sin.
             I think we could all agree that no one is perfect. Hester Prynne was not perfect, nor was any other character for that matter. Hester committed the sin of adultery, which was a very serious offense at that point in time. However, in today's society it is not very unusual to see such things. Many people commit adultery and see nothing of it. Even Dimmesdale's involvement in the situation is not as shocking, because society's view on things have changed drastically. Ministers are not a heavily depended upon to be a leader in the community, because people are going to church for the wrong reasons.
             I believe that we all do things out of anger. Some things may be more drastic than others, but that all depends on the person's toleration. It was obvious that Dimmesdale is not the type of person that wants to sit and talk things out. After finding out Hester had betrayed him, he made a promise to get his revenge.
