The Russian army of 12 million had taken control of Poland and was already in the areas that the Germans had occupied. The Russian army was ordered to hold its position for a week, which was how long the meeting at Yalta was to last. Over the course of the next seven days (February 4-11) the "Big three" worked out three agreements. What this whole meeting was for was the re-establishment of the nations that were destroyed by Germany. The first
