This spreading western influence could be attributed to Europe's advanced technological and governmental systems that surpassed all others on earth. Colonizers, therefore, were allowed to have conquered the rest of the non-European globe with ridiculous ease .
             These European Empires at the turn of the century included Britain, which was by far the largest, Russia, France, Germany, and Belgium; in addition, included among the colonialist empires, although not European, were the USA and Japan. These seven powers advanced imperialism throughout Asia and Africa in a bid to control as many countries as possible. Their monopolization was fuelled by the desire to attain the economic gains that colonies could provide through new trading markets and raw materials for industrialization. During this age of imperialism, the amount of people throughout the world who were brought under colonial rule was estimated at approximately 560 million . This is an amazing number considering how much it greatly overshadows the population of Europe at the time; therefore, the complete domination of colonized people by Europeans cannot be attributed to military technology alone.
