The novel Death of a Salesman written by Arthur Miller , is a story about a Salesman living in New York with the name Willy Loman. He lives in a illusion to be very popular and successful but the reality is different. He is old and unsuccessful. On a supposed business trip Willy comes back in the night and tells his wife Linda Loman, that he couldn't keep his mind on driving
His two sons Happy and Biff are at home and they notice the strange behaviour of their dad. Happy is the son that lived in New York with his parents together, Biff came from the west, where he worked on several farms to get a job in the east.
Biff and Happy set up a plan to open a sporting good business. Willy sounds enthusiastic about it and gives them advises about the interview on the next day.
Willy wants to get a job in the home office because he is
physically weakened. Willy goes to the office and gets a refusal from Howard. Finally Willy gets fired. Then a flashback occurs where Ben reappears from the past, making a last and final offer to Willy to come and work in Alaska. Willy refuses, Ben leaves and the family is going to watch the Football game.
Back in the past, Willy sees Charley in his office to lend his loan from him. Charley offers him a job again but Willy's pride let him refuse again.
Biff is at Oliver's office, sitting and waiting being unrecognised.
He leaves and steals an expensive fountain pen. Later the boys invite him to dinner at a restaurant. Totally in illusion Willy rushes out, rescanning the scene 15 years ago in a hotel in Boston where Biff saw his father with another woman.
Back in the present, the brothers come home and get screamed at from their mom. Biff and Willy have a last argument until Willy sits in his car and kill himself.
