             In an eerie scene that distinctly describes Simon as being a higher power, or at least having the knowledge of one, Simon talks with Ralph about what will happen to them in regards to the possibility of rescue. Simon, who is sitting on a rock above Ralph, whispers to Ralph, "You'll get back where you came from" (Golding 111). This scene demonstrates Simon's mystical, prophetic powers as he knows in some incommunicable way that Ralph will survive (Reilly).
