In a workplace we often concentrate in doing the work than focusing in other aspects of how a workplace functions. There are so many opportunities that America offers of what field you would like to be involved in. There is no one job that is incorrect when you are earning your wages legally. In this nonfiction memoir Barefoot Heart, the author Elva Treviño Hart, has pointed out facts of a particular family that labored in migrant farms for many summers. Elva lets the reader know how often she participated along with her family in these farms. Every summer, immediately when school was over, her siblings and Elva would go away to a certain town to work at a farm, so when school started they would have enough to eat and be clothed. They were a low-income family. So her father thought it to be best if they would go work together as a family and receive whatever the owner of the farm would pay him. I believe the Trevinos were exploited because even if her dad felt there was a problem, he still would have not said anything in order for them to keep their job. The labor the Trevinos did was hard work and paid very little. For all those rows of picking up the products under a hot sun everyday was hard labor. However, they were satisfied with working in a farm, even though it was rough, but working by their own strength and ability made them feel good and they knew that it would be more descent than cleaning after someone. Maybe not everyone in that family thought this way but Elva's dad did and what ever he said went. These kids were being exploited by there own dad. The family had no voice in anything that was already planned for them. They couldn't say I'm going to stay or I just want to hang out here with all my friends and have a normal summer like everyone else. They had to submit under their fathers rules.
