Well after weeks of worrying about what I would do when the bus arrived to take me to Ballon the only thing I could think was " How am I going to last out there at Ballon without all of my good friends?" The bus trip was long and fun but when we reached our destination the only thing that worried me was "How am I going to survive a whole month with all of these people who I don't get along with?" I was allocated to "A" dorm along with Yasper, Elliot, Yen-Ting, Simon, Nathan, Todd, Andy, Alan and Wayne.
The first night I couldn't get to sleep, so I said to no one in particular "Is anyone else awake?" and to my surprise I heard a reply from above me and I quickly worked out that it was Elliot. We ended up talking to each other all night, basically about our whole life up until now. We only got about 2hrs sleep that night. The next day I learnt all of the instructors' names Mr and Mrs Wieland, Mr Liversidge, Mr and Mrs Allsop, Miss Sterling, Cuzma and Miss Sydes.
The first week was pretty good with the overnight hike, where we went for a hike during the day, and then later on in the day we set up camp and started a fire to cook with, it was good fun. During the Initiative course we had to pretend that we were blind and find our way through the bush. Also we had to get our whole group through a giant web made out of rope, I was one of the few people who could pick people up and stick them through the higher holes, everyone was glad that there were some strong and tall people in the group.
On the second Wednesday at Ballon it was time for the "High Ropes Course". I was a bit scared when I was climbing up the ladder to start the course, I was the first person, and so all the people watching me didn't make me feel much better.
