School Uniforms

Many schools in California want students to wear uniforms. However, Edna Batey Elementary School students are not required to wear them. Many people have opinions on whether schools should have students wear uniforms or not. My partner, Alejandro, and I decided to find out what the students at Edna Batey Elementary School thought about this rule.
Alejandro and I expected to have more students oppose school uniforms because no one likes to wear the same thing everyday. Our first task was to collect data from the population we sampled. We surveyed one class from each grade including kindergarten totaling one hundred and thirty-one students. We gave each teacher a tally sheet to count how many students supported or opposed wearing school uniforms everyday. The teachers returned the surveys to us and we counted all the polls.
We decided that responses to a survey were the best sampling method to do for this project. When we counted all the tally sheets, we determined that thirty-seven students supported and ninety-four opposed to wearing school uniforms. Since the question had to be changed a little bit for the primary teachers, this sampling method was biased. Even though more students opposed school uniforms like we predicted, many primary students supported the idea. Therefore, our original question was answered through our sampling.
From the data we collected and analyzed, we concluded that more students at Edna Batey Elementary School prefer to not wear school uniforms. Our research and analysis has given us an answer to our original question. Kids like to wear different kinds of clothes and do not like to dress like everyone else.
