The original founding of the juvenile justice system was based on the words of rehabilitation and in the best interest of the child, and it was founded under the doctrine of parens patraie which means- the state as the parent. The doctrine was adopted from the English tradition of common law, which encouraged all adjudications of juveniles to be in the child's best interest.
