Self Injury is prevalent among college students. I can tell
you many stories about self injury, about the people who self
injure. I know a girl, who doesn't know how to handle her emotional
pain so she turns it into physical pain. She says that it makes it
real to her. She has taken many trips to the hospital for stitches,
she has been to many therapists, and she also has been in an
impatient treatment facility to help her stop doing it. None of this
has helped her, she still hurts herself. She told me recently that
people look at her like she is a freak when they find out what she
does to herself. My friend is not alone, not by a long shot.
