             Behavior Management Philosophy Paper
             My main goal as a teacher will be to establish and run a classroom in which the students take full responsibility for the environment they create for themselves and their peers. I want my students, from day one, to know that they have choices. Choices to act appropriately or not, choices to support each other's learning or not as well as choosing whether or not to take an active role in their own learning. I will work to establish an environment where the students take control of how they behave and why they choose certain behavior. I truly believe that students should be taught that whatever consequence comes from and action, it was a consequence they chose. I want my students to feel that they have control over the environment they create and that together, we can have an awesome classroom where we all work together.
             a) After reviewing and studying the various theories of people like Kohn, the Canters, and CM Charles, I have decided that I will practice these management strategies due to their effectiveness in the classroom:
             • not holding grudges against students
             • students involved in class rules/standards

             • not ever implementing teacher-made rules
             • always correcting cause instead of issuing consequences
             • disarming students criticism of teacher
             • simply telling students to "sit there quietly if you aren't going to do your work"
             • not trying to change misbehavior
