Reading, Writing,... And Moral Intellegence
             Dr. Borba, an educator, lecturer, and author has researched violence and anti-social youth. She found that many kids lacked moral intelligence traits, especially when it comes to empathy and self-control. These kids have a lot of aggression and cruelty, in them. Their consequences for these actions can, and will be tragic. Kids that are aggressive and violent know the deeds are wrong, but they cannot feel for their victims, or stop their cruel actions, due to the fact that too often they never learned critical moral behavior that would show them how to do right. Moral intelligence provides critical moral behavior.
             Dr. Borba wrote about the seven esstential virtues that teach kids to do the right thing. The seven esstential virtues of moral intelligence are as follows: empathy, conscience, self-control, resoect, kindness, tolerance, and fairness. Students are able to learn the core traits that form their reputations as human beings. They will need these traits to suceed in every area of their lives.
             Dr. Borba believes that teacher's can make a difference in student's lives, because the sven esstentials that build moral intelligence are learned. This means teacher's can teach them. Teacher's have many opportunities to weave these ideas into their daily lessons. Teaching these virtues is assurance that kids will lead decent, moral lives. In the classroom, one moral habit is taught a month and addressed for a minute a day for twent-one days. It is said that new behaviors take a minimim of twenty-one days, through repitition, to learn.
