Primary Data is information collected personally, it was collected by me and a partner at two censes points on Oxford Road. The census points are as follows:
The primary data we collected was information about pedestrians, traffic, land use and also a survey of the people on Oxford Rd.
Secondary Data is information collected by someone else or gained from a textbook.
The secondary data we collected was information on the parts of Oxford Road that I was unable to collect data from. Other members of my year group had already collected this data. I will explain in full how and why I collected this data in the methodology section of the project. All the results will be put together and analysed in the Data section later on in the project. I will also form a conclusion, this is where I will use all my evidence to show where I have defined the CBD boundary to be.
Another possible method of finding the CBD is using hypothesis. A Hypothesis is a statement based on some factual evidence. When there is a point that needs to be proved we can always use a hypothesis theory to back it up.
In this section I will explain how and why I collected my data. I will use hypothesis to back my results up and also publish some of my results. I was stood between census points 4 and 5, that is Charles St and Grosvenor St. Me and my partner, Patrick Cantillon, were there for the morning starting at 9am and finishing at 1pm. We collected several types of data in different types of tally charts and surveys. We needed to collect several types of data in order for us to find the start of the CBD, we will also look at hypothesis to see if our results match up with the theories and finally we will try and spot anomalies in our results.
