There are many people that can be considered our neighbors. Neighbors can be anyone from the people who live next door to the people that live any a country far away who can be considered our distant neighbor. These people are not considered our neighbors because they are so far away but they are our neighbors on the Earth. I will discuss who our neighbors are, what "neighbor" means to me, and neighbors that I have had in the past that have had either a positive or negative effect on my life.
When someone thinks of the word neighbor, the first thing that will almost always come to mind would be the people next door. Although these people are our neighbors, they are only one type of neighbor that we can have or do have. This is why we call them our next-door neighbors. We can have many different types of neighbors such as neighbors down the block, neighbors in the church, or even neighbors on the Earth. When I think of neighbors, I think of anyone who I have ever met or I will ever meet, anyone who will have any sort of effect on my life. The dictionary meaning of "neighbor" is either someone who lives adjacent, such as a next-door neighbor, or a fellow human being with whom we have made contact.
Neighbors that we have or have had can have a very adverse effect on the way we live our lives. Neighbors can be either a role model that we would want to try and live by and model ourselves after, or they can be an example of someone that we should try our hardest not to be like. I can remember one neighbor that I had who was one of those examples of someone that I did not want to grow to be like. This person was an old man, probably in his seventies.
