The Yin and Yang attributes the complementary and polarity functions in all religions. Which is that in every earthly movement there is always an active and receptive movement. This concept applies to everything in nature, including religion. The story of creation from a Jewish perspective is how I chose to demonstrate this theory.
             "In the beginning of G-ds creating the heaven and the earth – when the earth was astonishingly empty, with darkness upon the surface of the deep and the divine presences hovered upon the surface of the waters." (The Chumash, Genesis. 1. 1-2.). It is obvious that in preceding text G-d shows that he is the Supreme Yang, although heaven and earth also have yang like attributes, at that time everything was receptive of G-d's word. The earth being referred to as astonishingly empty signifies that it was not fulfilling its purpose. The earth was created to nurture G-d's creatures, without this relationship, the earth is nothing. Its existence is useful only to nurture and sustain all the inhabitants of the earth.
             "G-d said, 'let there be light' and there was light. G-d saw that the light was good and he separated between the light and the darkness." (The Chumash, Genesis. 1. 3-4.). When light was created at first it functioned with the darkness, meaning that in the darkness there were patches of light. According to Rabbi Shlomo Ben Yitzchak commonly known as Rashi, the light was recognized for its perfection and G-d decreed that it should be separated from the darkness. With G-d separation of light and darkness, was the first separation of yin/yang. G-d realized that they had to be separate things so that they could function like there purpose intended, and their differences would be clearer.
