s from an individual, to a community, then to a country, and finally a global perspective, we realize that the problems we face concerning our current food systems in relation to the environment are all encompassing and are intricately related to our behavior as individuals, businesses, communities, and nations. Therefore, the solutions to our problems will not be short sighted or simple. We must modify our behaviors individually and globally. First, it is necessary to analyze each problem and connect them with each other. Next, we can tie all factors together and analyze how we got to this point of global food insecurity/inequality and establish the actors and the operatives of the political economy of globalization pertaining to food production.
             As we examine the immediate problems of malnourishment, these questions must be asked, "Why does hunger persist when there is an abundance of food, and, why aren't efforts being done to curve overconsumption?" Because myth and misconception permeate the world's understanding of malnutrition, policy responses have been wildly off the mark in addressing the problem. Efforts to eliminate hunger often focus on technological quick fixes aimed at boosting crop yields and producing more food. Also, most policies and practices do not discourage mass overconsumption. For example, the only efforts to remedy the overweight problem in the U.S. have come from the commercial sector with techno-fixes and fad diets. The government sector remains a non-participant when it comes to the health epidemic of obesity. The result is malnutrition in both rich and poor countries.
