Macbeth

             MacBeth was a kind, decent and faithful man not long before the witches prophesy. The witches prophesy had a dramatic effect on MacBeth, something that caused major trouble, damage and disaster. At first it sounded very harmless, but MacBeth was not patient and decided to kill Duncan – with pressure from his wife as well. As he thought Duncan was the only one in his way. Little did he realise that this one death would not solve anything and that this would lead to countless lives being lost. Little did he know that this was just the beginning.
             There are many factors that cause MacBeth to perform these dreadful acts. There are 'Past events' such as the witches prophesy, Duncan's murder, Banquo's murder, etc. Then there are his relationships with his wife, - she persuades him to start the spark, by killing Duncan, and she embarrasses him by calling him a coward if he doesn't obey. Then there are MacBeth's personal feelings and motivations. He does not want Banquo to benefit from his hard work, he also wants to prove himself a man for Lady MacBeth, and most of all he is ambitious, and cant go back once started.
             The witches prophesy and his wife's persuasion sparks off the beginning of a disaster. Lady MacBeth puts MacBeth in a very tight position. She almost does not let him make his own decision. MacBeth is very reluctant to carry out deed of killing Duncan – (as we can see in Act 1 Scene 7 he says, "If we shall fail?" "The killer will be killed", "Kingship – you don't kill your relatives," "Loyalty – you don't kill your king", "religion – the killer is damned for eternity", etc.) Nevertheless MacBeth gets overwhelmingly taunted by his wife and eventually carries forward the deed. MacBeth thinks that this is the only thing that's is in his way of being king.
