t of volts being added to the Electrolysis circuit will increase the amount of copper being attracted to the negatively charged carbon rod (cathode).
In my investigation I plan to change the amount of volts passing into the copper sulphate solution.
I could have chosen to change many different variables such as: -
• Concentration of copper sulphate solution
• Temperature of copper sulphate solution
• Voltagecurrent passing through
• Material from which electrodes are made
To keep it a fair test I will make sure that the carbon rods are kept the same distance apart throughout all the experiments and also make sure that the experiment is left for 8 minutes every time. For safety precautions I will wear my safety goggles throughout the experiment. In the investigation I will measure the amount of Copper being attracted to the cathode in 8 minutes I will do this by measuring the weight of the carbon rod before and after each different experiment. The amount of voltage used in the experiment will range from 4-12 volts; we plan to do two repeat sets of results. To be accurate about the amount of volts passing through the circuit we will use a voltmeter to measure how many volts are actually going through.
