Sister Carrie

             Several critical events in the story:
             „« Carrie left her home in Columbia City and went to Chicago at the age of eighteen. The adventure of Sister Carrie began.
             „« She met a business man named Drouet on the train and exchanged address in order to keep in contact.
             „« She arrived in Chicago, and lived in her sister Minnie¡s apartment. The next day, she went to find a job.
             „« Because she can not find any job so she decided to head home, on the way home, Carrie accidentally met Drouet on the street.
             „« She received $20 from Drouet and their relationship started to get closer.
             „« Drouet introduced Hurstwood to Carrie and they became friends.
             „« When Drouet was on a business trip, Hurstwood frequently comes to Carrie¡s new apartment and finally he fell in love with her.
             „« Hurstwood and Carrie¡s relationship were far beyond than Drouet and Carrie¡s. Hurstwood¡s family fells apart rapidly and finally they divorced.
             „« One evening Hurstwood discovered that the bar¡s safe was unlocked; he took $10000, and accidentally locked the safe. He ran to Carrie¡s apartment and with a lie, they left Chicago and then to Detroit, Montreal, finally to New York.
             „« He started his own business using $1300 and returned the rest of the money. His business failed and they were forced to move into a small apartment. He lost all the hope, and Carrie lost interest in Hurstwood.
             „« Carrie found a job, spot in the chorus line of a Broadway show. She soon became famous but didn¡t tell Hurstwood.
             „« Hurstwood took one last job working as a scab (person who works when everyone is on strike) but got shot by mobs. He headed home wounded and in the meantime Carrie left him.
             „« Hurstwood finally committed suicide and Carrie went on with her unhappy life.
