ack to earth, everyone, including Ralph, gets excited about having a whole island to themselves, that they can do what they want because no one is there to tell them not to. This Is maybe why Piggy is pushed away and made an outcast, because he tries to tell them that they need to be more responsible, that they need to stop having fun all the time, they need to help out and try to get rescued. He is the one who is always reminding people of the rules, especially the one of the conch, either protesting that someone is talking without the conch, or that he can speak because he has the conch. The conch becomes a symbol of authority along with Ralph, it starts off the democracy and discipline on the island, it's a beautiful object, untouched by man and part of the natural world of the island that they have now belong to.
             At the Third Meeting, after eating the pig, Ralph starts to realise that things are breaking up, that the boys aren't doing what they said they would, so he calls a meeting. He talks for a long time but because he has the conch and they still obey the rule, he isn't stopped, they still see the conch as important and still
