             Software piracy is illegal. With this stated many people in the world are still making copies or sharing of copies of software illegally. I am hoping to demonstrate why pirating software affects the quality and prices of software globally.
             There are four types of software piracy. These four types are end user piracy, internet piracy, hard disk loading and software counterfeiting. End user piracy happens whenever a person like an employee of a company or a student takes a copy of the original software and makes a copy of it without the permission of the software license holder (Anti-Piracy). When this happens, the person who makes the copy does not purchase a license to own the copy. By not holding the license and using the copy of the software, that person is successfully reducing the profit of the company that made the software. When that happens usually that company will raise the price of the software and license to compensate for the revenue lost. Internet piracy occurs when people illegally download software from the internet. This can be done with a few different programs. A few examples of programs that make this possible are Kazaa, Morpheus, and Grockster. Internet piracy can also occur in internet auctions. This occurs when someone makes a copy of the software, boxes it, and sells it as an original copy. The effects of internet piracy are the same as end user piracy. Hard disk loading occurs when a business sells a new computer with software preloaded on it (Anti-Piracy). I am not saying that all computers sold with preloaded software have pirated software, just the ones in which you don't receive a blank license form or multiple license forms. Selling computers with preloaded software that is not licensed usually brings down the cost of the computer, which makes the price more attractive to consumers.
