             Have you ever puffed the "magic dragon"? Many Americans have had encounters with a drug with street names like weed, herb, pot, maryjane, and other numerous names. This drug is marijuana, and there are some effects to your life when you "take a puff of that herbal stuff".
             Marijuana is used to describe the flowering tops and leaves of the Indian hemp plant some know this plant as Cannabis. There are more than d400 separate chemical compounds in marijuana. The most know is Delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) this is what causes marijuana's "high" effect.
             Would you risk being federally punished for a high of marijuana? Some people take that risk. Even though marijuana possession, sale, and cultivation laws are not too harsh you still will get a punishment. But trafficking drugs will get you many years of imprisonment and big fines.
             The effects of marijuana on the body and mind are related to the dose of THC received, and that in turn has to do with the quantity of marijuana used and its potency. THC enters the body through the lungs and moves rapidly to the blood stream and into the brain. Marijuana was shown to weaken the white blood cells under the ability of white blood cells to fight caner. Marijuana in heavy use may affect the endocrine, or hormonal, systems of men and women. In men there is a reduced number of testosterone, low sperm count, and other effects.
             Concentration and reaction are impaired when an individual is intoxicated with marijuana, so coordination is also only temporarily affected. Smoking marijuana smoke causes five times more carbon monoxide and other chemicals to accumulate in the blood than cigarette smoke does. The potential respiratory damage from one joint was judged similar to that of five cigarettes.
