September 11 is day that changed our nation's country. In just the few hours of one day everything changed so quickly. Several events took place so fast. In the morning of September 11th at 8:46am a plane crashes into the north tower of the World Trade Center. At 9:03am a plane crashes into the south tower of the World Trade Center. At 9:17am the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) shuts down all New York City area airports. At 9:21am the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) halts all flights at U.S. airports. It is the first time in history that air traffic has been halted nationwide. At 9:38am a plane crashes into the Pentagon. Evacuation begins immediately. At 9:45am the White House evacuates. At 10:05am the south tower of the World Trade Center collapses. At 10:10am a portion of the Pentagon collapses. At 10:10am plane crashes in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. At 10:22am the State and Justice Departments, as well as the World Bank are evacuated. At 10:28am the World Trade Center's north tower collapses. At 10:45am all federal office buildings in Washington, D.C. are evacuated. At 1:44pm five warships and two aircraft carriers are ordered to leave the U.S. Naval Station in Norfolk, Virginia to protect the East Coast. At 4:10pm building 7 of the World Trade Center collapses.
             How did September 11th affect the lives of our nation's citizens who were not involved in the attacks? Today people remember September 11th because of the long lines at the airport and unneeded metal detectors that seem to be everywhere. Some people think that we should remember the day as prayer and thanks. Pamela Cumbley has a 7 year old daughter whose birthday is on 9/11.
