             Mr. King opens the discussion with quite a provocative statement. He declares that in his opinion, we are all no less as mentally ill and reasons it by mentioning people who talk to themselves in public, picking nose or make weird grimaces when they think nobody's seeing them, or have irrational, hysterical fears of spiders, dark places and other not essentially harmful objects.
             Mr. King calls his essay: "Why we crave horror movies?" The reason this question is to try to get us to think about why we crave to see, to hear, and to read about murder, death, blood, gore etc., considering horror movies, books, and even simple campfire spooky stories. But the real question, in my opinion, should be formulated as to why we crave to bear witness to other's people misfortune?
             In his essay, Mr. King expressed his own author's wonder and pleasure by the degree of his work's success. Indeed, the reports of crime, terrorism, war, and natural disasters make the majority of every day's news. But it is seemingly never enough. People also want to see the same scenes in fiction entertainment of every possible media.
             In fact, it's hard not to agree with those statements, they are convincing and look well-grounded - we are all know or accounted strangely acting people or people who have irrational fears. And we all know people who are devoted admirers of horror films. Aren't they the same people? Mr. King tells us his confident "yes".
             Mr. King then also states that horror movies actually address that insanity in its viewers, allow them to experience in action behavioral differences normally prohibited and closely monitored by "watchful eye" of civilized society. In other words, according to Mr. King, our own hidden fantasies and wishes find an embodiment in the imaginative worlds of darkened movie theaters.
