             The first attacks were aimed at a building that President Bush was informed by intelligence officials Hussein and top officials were meeting. The war started earlier then President Bush intended because he was acting on new intelligence information that may have helped eliminate Iraq's top leader early on in the war. But many people still did not understand why President Bush had declared war on Iraq.
             The President has strong convictions that the Iraqi leaders had accumulated large amounts of weapons of mass destruction, biological weapons, and may even have been on the verge of developing nuclear weaponry. He also felt very strongly that Saddam Hussein was involved in the September 11 attacks on the United States. The issue of weapons of mass destruction has been an issue since the Gulf War. (Hersh)
