Public vs Private Education

             One big issue that faces high school students in today's society is the selection of the right college or university. Many students pick a college or university according to its location, reviews, and status, but the crucial decision when deciding where to go to further your education is whether or not you should attend a public or private college. In this paper I will discuss the similarities and differences between a public and private college.
             HOPE scholarship is one of the biggest differences between a public college and a private college. When a student attends a public college he or she will be given an opportunity to receive the HOPE scholarship. The scholarship consists of three thousand dollars that will be given to the public school of your choice in the state of Georgia. Since most of the public colleges in the state of Georgia can be attended for less than three thousand dollars this gives students the option of going to school for free. The state of Georgia also allows students attending a private college to attain HOPE. The amount that HOPE will pay at a private college is different than the public amount. The amount is cut in half. That's right; a student that attends a private college is only given fifteen hundred dollars toward his education. The average private college cost well over five thousand dollars a year to attend. This doesn't allow students the equal right to education. It's selfish for the state of Georgia to give students who attend a state owned school more money than someone who attends a nonstate owned school. Georgia is just keeping their money under their circulation.
