Ironing

             I was born March 10, 1986 in Havana, Cuba. I was raised in a small town called Guira de Melena until the age of nine. My mom won the lottery and my sister, my dad and mom and myself came to Miami. My first school was Coral Terrace Elementary; I started there in fourth grade. It was very difficult for me; because I did not speak English what so ever. And my fourth grade teacher did not know how to say a word in Spanish. I survived all the way to fifth grade, were my teacher did not like me at all. I struggled with that teacher a lot. I did not know much of anything; I was learning a brand new language, and also everything in Miami. In Cuba, kids have no future to base their lives on. But once I reached Miami, I learned in school that all your work and effort would be paid off in the long one.
             I moved on to WMMS (West Miami Middle School) sixth grade was my class. I began the year pretty good, awesome grades, I selected Broadcasting as an elective. That class really had me going, I learned a lot, I learned about computers and how to controls all the equipment for TV production. I made a lot of friends, true friends, friends that helped me a lot in school and personal life. They understood my problem in learning a new language and how hard it was for me. That year I started to open my eyes in what life was about, what was school all about. I met friends that have been with me all life till this day. Anthony is one of them and also many more. That year I joined the tennis team, and became top 3 in the boys' team. Went to compete in Tropical Park as mix doubles and won that tournament. Went to district playoffs and lost in the finals. I was honored with a trophy and a medal for second place in all Districts.
             After that year, I moved on to seventh grade, I grew up a little more. Met new friends and kept hanging around with all my old buddies. I kept the broadcasting class, and that teacher really started to get annoying. She was ...
