hazed and confused

             After reading the abhorrent story of the hazing which occurred on May 7th in Northbrook, Illinois, the injury and torment related with these rituals should be obvious to the public and terminated. Both articles that I have read show and obviously agree with the severity of the situation, however ABC's article, "Powder Puff Melee", shows a much more detailed description of the hazing specified as well as a video showing the intense physical and mental anguish performed through these rituals. However, NBC's, "Parents hires attorney over alleged H.S.", which simply shows much less detail and variation on the story. It also contains snapshots, which only show half of what actually happened the day of this horrible act of maliciousness. ABC's article has an up-close and personal feel due to the live coverage shown in her video, and her in depth description of the girls who undertook this ritual.
             NBC and ABC are more than likely trying to target similar audiences. Both stories point towards a family involved audience, obviously parents of teenagers. Teenagers that are enrolled in, or about to enroll into a high school. The articles are targeting the upper class, and upper-middle class families, who have high hope for their children's educational well-being. Both articles relate emotionally with the targeted audience, by showing a frightening situation that no parents in a well to do family would ever want their child to go through.
             The pathos appeal is obviously enforced in both articles. However, the emotional trauma related with these articles is more obvious in ABC's story. The video shown with this article is a great example of pathos. In the video older girls are shown taking full dominance over the younger girls ranging between the ages of 16 and 18.
