Throughout the Cold War, race relations were noticed by more and more. HUAC was formed and so-called radicals were being searched out and pointed out as communists. The labour unions (who had just attained thousands of black workers) were all "turned over or returned to anti-communist moderate leaders" (Robinson 135). The NAACP continued to fight for black civil rights and by 1955 they overcame the 'separate but equal' law of 1896 in the Supreme Court with Brown vs. the Board of Education.
