Another example is Australia, which banned weapons in 1996. Consequently, armed robberies have risen by 73%, kidnappings have risen by 38%, assaults by 17%, and manslaughter by 29%. Apart from seeing higher rates of crime in other countries, it can also be seen in some states of the United States like Washington and New York in which gun ownership isn't allowed. In these states the murder rate has risen up to 200% since guns were banned. Having more gun ownership reduces the rate of violent crime. When guns are banned, there is low gun ownership among law obeying citizens, yet there are more criminals with access to guns, which leads to a more violent place since they are the only ones who have access to them because they don't obey the law.
