· The crime is for Monopolistic/Monetary Gain. That is the pursuit of financial gain through illegal means (Follian, 1995).
· The organisation is hierarchal in nature. There is a structure within the organisation that has ranks such as, kingpin, dealer, soldiers or grunts and runners. This also means a loyalty structure were every one is loyal to the kingpin (Follian, 1995).
· A strong division of labour is seen. Labour is divided among certain people in the group, dependant on their place in the hierarchy (Follian, 1995).
· Within the organisation there are certain regulations that all members must follow. The rules usually pertain to loyalty, secrecy and silence (Follian, 1995).
