ot;official report" and "objectively" which imply that this will be a very by the book investigation. There is no room to be flexible or mess up; everything has a particular and specific procedure that will not fail. The Commission feels that this way, no one will escape punishment, if the judges decide they are guilty. That is the road to the "official truth". Every procedure involved in this type of investigation contains someone holding an authoritative position in the government. The victims are involved in a small portion of this procedure because their testimony is needed for the "officials" to pass a judgment on the crime. However, this testimony may be hard to obtain considering that the officials are only investigating crimes that resulted in death. How can you gather testimony from those who can no longer speak? Gerardo says by, "listening to the evidence, relatives and eyewitnesses and survivors" (Dorfman 9). So the official truth is going to be obtained by listening to the hearsay of those who the crimes were not in fact actually committed against. While the process to obtain this information is done in an official matter, it does not seem that it can be considered the "official truth" since it is not coming directly from the victim's mouth.
