The Greatest and Oldest Game Ever:
             The ball is kicked to start the game. Number 10 receives it and starts hauling down the field. No 5 and I followed right behind him. No. 10 gets tackled; No. 5 and I set up the ruck and get blasted by three guys on the opposing team. Calling for reinforcements, No. 8 helps keep the ruck standing while our scrum half pitches the ball to No. 11. Have you ever played a sport that combines the conditioning of wrestling, the rules and regulations of soccer, hockey and basket ball, and the comradery of a family? The sport is Rugby Football. It is played all over the world and has been around for centuries. Rugby is a game of possession not yardage and each player has as much heart as the next. It requires many years of experience to become proficient but the reward at the end of the game is the perfect finish to end the day.
             One of the most popular games to be played in the nineteenth century was football or soccer as it is known in the states. William Webb Ellis was believed to be the first to start the idea of rugby when he picked up the football and ran with it (rugbyfootballhistory). This is actually the most popular theory, however, these kinds of games dates back to medieval times when whole villages would play one another and do anything to get the ball past the opposing village (rugbyfootballhistory). Later on, royalty outlawed "blood sports" (rugbyfootballhistory). The first recorded game of ball was in 1175 but Edward the II made the past time forbidden to "hustle over large balls" (rugbyfootballhistory). None the less these games stayed popular and over time, the need for rules and regulations grew. In 1750, a school in Rugby, England began teaching students ball-in-hand football (rugbyfootballhistory).
