Both Picasso and Braque shattered that renaissance, whose spatial convention had dominated European painting for over four hundred years. (Newman, 2001) Cubists offered instead of the unitary, fixed, egocentric focus of Renaissance perspective, multiple and mixed perspectives, thus presenting the subject in its many aspects all at once. In a cubist painting, ahead may be seen simultaneously in both profile and full face, still life, or a landscape both from the front from above. Picasso and Braque showed not only a novel kind of pictorial but also a new fourth dimension which is time. By doing the fourth dimension they find a new way to understand the age and significance of the human image that is painted in the picture (Harrison & Wood, 1992). Both of them were strongly inspired by tribal art, especially from Africa.
