How the Massachusetts constitu

             Over two hundred years ago America was revered not only for the courageous people who helped create it physically but the ingenious people who created the very foundation for our government. The Constitution of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is one of the oldest documents of this kind that still has pull in the world today. From equality to freedom of religion the constitution has many hit and misses with the original blueprints for Massachusetts.
             For example: Article one of the constitution states: "All men are born free and equal, and have certain natural, essential, and unalienable rights, among which may be...that of seeking and obtaining their...happiness." This idea not only is out 'slogan', so to speak, for the United States, but it is the foundation for much of the rest of the constitution. This simply states every man is born free and equal and able to possess their happiness in which every way they deem fit without worry of discrimination of any kind. This article two hundred years ago stood for a white male dominated society but now with suffrage and slave movements this article stands for so much more. This frees every race and gender of any chains that might have held them down elsewhere in the world.
             Freedom of rights is not the only freedom we possess here. Religion is another freedom that many around the world envy. Article two says: "...And no Subject shall be hurt, molested or restrained in his person...for worshipping God in the manner and season most agreeable to the Dictates of his own conscience...provided he doth not disturb the public peace, or obstruct others in their religious worship." The phrase is one of the better known rights around the world. John Adams, in his time, meant the Christian God, but over the years this freedom has turned into every religion being welcome without discrimination.
