             The flag pole is covered in orange material which is changed at special occasions and every year at the festival of Baisakhi in April. Great respect is shown to the flag as it is a symbol of everything the sikhs believe.
             The symbol on the Nishan Sahib is called the 'Khanda'. This is the symbol of sikhs. It symbolises gods power. The double edged sword in the centre is a symbol of the power of god, the chakra (circle) which has no beginning and no end is a symbol of continuity and gods eternal presence. The two kirpans on the outside represent the spiritual and political balance of the universe.
