Christians were from time to time persecuted for different reasons. These that l am to present are the general reasons why Christians were persecuted. Firstly they were blamed to have started the fire that destroyed the city of Rome. It happened that they was a fire that destroyed the city of Rome. Some believe it was started by the spies of Nero, but he went on to use the Christians as a scapegoat. Thus he decided to kill all the Christians in the city of Rome.
             They were also accused of cannibalism. Christians celebrated in the ritual they called the breaking of the bread the death and resurrection of Christ. In this celebration they said they where eating the body of Christ and drinking his blood. With this the pagans and other Roman citizens accused them of cannibalism. Their other ritual of baptizing both men and women in the same pool was controversial within the Roman norms of morality. With this they were accused of immorality, that means Christianity was a bad religion.
             Disloyalty to the Emperor was also another accusation. Every Roman citizen was expected to offer sacrifice to the Roman Emperor and to the Roman gods and this was not going to be like that with Christians. This they refused to do saying that their religion did not allow them to carry out such sacrifices. This meant that Christians became bad citizens for not respecting the laws of the Emperor and they deserved to die.
