Understanding racial differences is the most important challenge in the United States. It has been the one of the most disputable issues in all work places as different nationalities have increased. In cases like this racism has to be taken out of society and we must encourage diversity. In the article, " What It's Like to Be a Black Manager" by Edward W. Jones, Jr. shows numerous issues of racial activities.
             Mr. Edward Jones, Jr. was offered a job in one of the biggest organizations in the United States as being the manager at a facility. He happened to bump into a recruiter of the company and the recruiter stated that he wanted to recruit Mr. Jones. Edward replies, "Are you kidding me-you don't have any black managers, do you?" He replied, "No, but that's why I'm here.""(Jones, Edward W."What It's Like to be a Black Manager, Pg.50) Interpreting this conversation, the recruiter saying that he is there at Jone's college means that his establishment has to meet the company's quota. According to the Office of Personnel Management report of 2003 shows new federal jobs created only 22.9% whites hired and majority was the other minorities. Referring from the website, Media Monitor, "Racism in Federal Hiring" (http://www.aim.org/publications/media_monitor/2003/09/26.html) states "that federal agencies are using quotas in hiring of minorities, but they are exceeding their quotas by enormous margins."
             After Edward Jones was hired and able to take responsibilities as a manager. He was beginning to feel uncomfortable and felt alienated from others.
