mainly want to present the different positions in both countries sophisticatedly, but I also plan to analyse the difficulty of the American-German crisis and I have got the intention to offer methods of resolution. However to understand the complex relationship between Germany and the United States an overlook of the common history which I want to describe in the first part is required. In the latest past the relations got a twist by the new American president. I would like to express the reasons for that in the second part. The work with some opinion-forming sources, which I particularly want to describe in the third part, will probably give more insights for the analysis of the transatlantic annoyance.
             2.1 The First German Settlers in the USA
             The German immigration into the USA began in the 17th century. In 1683 Franz Daniel Pastorius founded "Germantown" near Philadelphia together with the English William Penn who was a member of the so-called "Society of Friends". At that time the German immigrants came mainly from Baden, Württemberg, Hesse and the Palatinate as well as from the dioceses Cologne, Osnabrück, Münster and Mainz. At the beginning of the 18th century economical problems in Germany led to a new wave of immigration. The Germantown settlers were followed by tens of thousands of other German immigrants. In 1790 about 277,000 Americans of German origin lived in the USA. Around 1850 nearly one million Germans came to the United States. Among them were thousands of political refugees, who were looking for a democratic, united and free country, as consequence of the failed European revolution in 1848. During this late phase of German immigration the newcomers joined the group of German settlers from former times. When early in 1861 the civil war in the USA became unpreventable and the President Abraham Lincoln was looking for 75,000 volunteers to smash the rebellion in the south, a lot ...
