efore the game Blacky's team-mates passed comments as The Thumper walked passed them in the grandstand. "Geez, he's got bigger" and "Look at the size of those arms" (pg.99). Blacky heard the comments come from Deano and Clemboy. This didn't help him because he was already intimidated by The Thumper and this made him feel even more intimidated by him. From the first bounce Blacky knew that it was going to be hard. "Ooff, knee to the balls" and "Ooff, elbow in the face" was what happened to Blacky at the first bounce. This would of made him even more terrified and fearful of The Thumper. When The Thumper was running at Blacky in the last minute of the match Blacky had to make a decision whether to tackle or lay The Thumper tackle to his opponent. At the last second he made the decision to lay The Thumper tackle but at that same moment his opponent also moved the same way and Blacky slowed him down. By doing this Blacky's team ended up winning the grand final but in the process getting knocked unconscious. Blacky didn't tell anybody about his decision to side step The
