I can help promote individuality and personal identity by allowing the young people at Maumbury House to be themselves and support any personal interest they may have such as, sport, music, and other activities. I should always respect their privacy and choices if I feel they are appropriate and allow them to make individual decisions.
             I am aware that the young people at Muambury House have rights and feel confident that should I be unsure of regulations I can refer to the Childrens Act 1989 which can be obtained in the office at Maumbury or via the internet. I am also aware that in a situation where I am unhappy with a decision made by a resident I can look to other members of staff for advice and confirmation. It is very important that all of the residents are aware that they have rights and are familiar with them, this will help then to feel independent and a person in their own right and not just part of a system, Knowing their rights will also assist them in making decisions and choices about themselves and their future.
             All of the residents at Maumbury have the right to make choices about themselves and their future and I have a duty to respect those choices and offer support and help reaching those goals if I feel they are appropriate. I am aware of organisations such as Connections which offer advice and support and when I feel necessary will encourage use of such programs. The address book is in the office and I know that helpful phone numbers such as careers office and sports centres can be found there as and when the residents may require them. On a personal level I understand that the residents have personal preference to clothes, activities, and associates and should always respect those choices.
