I have chosen to go into the field of elementary education. I have experience of adolescents and I expect to enjoy working with them. Teaching has been my dream for many years. I have given much thought about becoming a teacher and my family is very supportive of the career path that I have chosen. There are many benefits and challenges to being a teacher that I am willing to accept.
             Teaching will allow me to be near my children during the day and home with them after school. I would be able to get more involved in their extracurricular activities and to help them with their homework. I enjoy cooking and spending time with my family, but hectic work schedules sometimes get in the way. Being at home after school would allow me more time to do the things that I enjoy. Every working mother dreams of being able to be home with her kids during the summer months. Swimming, baseball, and going on vacations are just a few of the many activities that summertime entails. Teaching will enable me to contribute more effectively to the economic wellbeing of my family. However, the main reason for wanting to be at home during the summer is so I can be a mother to my children during times when they need one most and so I can help teach them important values that they will need throughout life.
             I have always had a desire to work with children. Therefore, I expect teaching to be a satisfying career. I had my oldest child, Adam, when I was only eighteen years old. I found motherhood to be difficult at times because I was still a child myself. I was uncertain at that time, as to what career path I wanted to pursue. Over the years, I have developed a love and special interest for children. Therefore, I want to do my part to make a positive impact in children's lives today.
