The Rape OF Lucrence

             When going threw the poetry book I really did not know what to use for my three poems so as you know I choose poems from another book but my analysis were not as deep as they should have been so as u recommended I decided that for my poetry paper I would choose one of those three poems and go from there. When I sat down and thought about which poem I would write on I decided I would choose the one that most interest me the most an related to everyday life in some sort of way. The three poems I chose from were the; Rape of Lucrence, Venus and Adonis, and the Lover's Complaint. But the one that was the closest to everyday life, or maybe something that could happen in the real world would have to be the Rape of Lucrence.
             Once I got started trying to produce a good poetry paper on The Rape of Lucrence was not an easy task, because I wanted to do more then just try to read through the poem an tell you what I thought about it and how well written it is, because I am sure you know all of this. What I really wanted to do was research the poem and offer more then just my insight on it. I wanted to show you that I actually learned something about it. The Rape of Lucrence is known as one of William Shakespeare greatest works. Many people think that Shakespeare was attempting to establish his reputation when he wrote the poem. The poem was published On May 9, 1594 the poem was entered in the Hall Book of the Worshipful Company of Stationers, the English government's pre-publication registry. The poem was highly popular with educated readers. Shortly after Shakespeare dedicated the poem to Henry Wriothesley, the Third Earl of Southampton. Wriothesley (1573-1624) was a patron of Shakespeare and other writers of the time.
